Circulars of Ransom Post No. 131 (St. Louis), Grand Army of the Republic, 1889-1928

Ransom Post No. 131 was a St. Louis post (or chapter) of the Grand Army of the Republic, which was the largest association of Union Civil War veterans. Ransom Post published bi-weekly circulars that contain information on its members. These circulars contain announcements of applications for membership in the G.A.R., which include brief descriptions of the applicant’s military service in the Civil War; and announcements of deaths of members, which often include date and place of birth, rank and regiment, date of death, and place of burial.
