Receipt roll of hired men on the steamer J.C. Swon in U.S. service from December 1862 to February 1863

This receipt roll shows pilots, engineers, roustabouts, and other crew members. Entries include the crew member's name, occupation, dates of employment, number of days worked, wages per month, amount received, and the crew member's signature. In most cases the signature is indicated with an "x" mark. This document is part of the Charles Parsons Papers. Charles Parsons was a captain and assistant quartermaster at St. Louis during the Civil War. In cases in which the name was difficult to decipher, alternate spellings have been added to this index.
