The Book of St. Louisans: A Biographical Dictionary of Leading Living Men of the City of St. Louis / edited by John W. Leonard (St. Louis: St. Louis Republic, 1912)

This source contains brief biographical sketches of St. Louis businessmen, professionals, and civic leaders, modeled after Who's Who in America. Entries usually contain the individual's occupation and place of business, date and place of birth, parents' names, wife's name, children's names, schools attended, street address of office and residence, and clubs to which he belonged. Please note that the index entries refer not only to the name of the individual who is profiled, but also the names of those within each biographical sketch (i.e., wife's name, children's names, parents' names). Please note also that some entries are updates to entries in the 1906 edition of the Book of St. Louisans. In cases in which the individual died or removed from the city since 1906, these updated entries contain little information: usually only occupation; a note that the individual removed from the city (new place of residence is often given); and/or year of death.
