The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) was founded in 1866, and became the largest association of Union Civil War veterans. General Lyon Post No. 2 was a G.A.R. chapter located in St. Louis. Entries in this roster usually include the G.A.R. member's name; rank, company, and regiment in which he served in the Civil War; occupation; and residence.
