St. Louis in World War II, 1940-1944, scrapbooks

Scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings regarding St. Louisans in World War II clipped from several St. Louis newspapers, primarily the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. Many articles include accounts of the action of St. Louis soldiers, sailors, and other military personnel in battle, and St. Louisans who received medals or citations. Some articles are accompanied by a photograph of the soldier or sailor. The scrapbooks also include some articles on home-front activities, and several lists of draftees, which sometimes only include name and address. Names of relatives of military personnel that are mentioned in the articles have also been indexed (perhaps more than half of the names indexed are not soldiers or other military personnel).
